A production that occurred in 1903 called In Dohomey, featured the Walker brothers. In this production, was the “cakewalk finale,” which is when the audience participates in the end of the show by choosing the winner and its applause. As time goes on and the Cakewalk dance stays alive, people like Williams and Walker add in certain traits to the dance like the finale, giving the historic dance more meaning and value. Overall, Walker and Williams brought the Cakewalk to different parts of the world, making the dance an international favorite.
