About Me

My name is Lindsey Maguire, and I am a second-year student at Santa Clara University. Born and raised in Santa Clara, the six-block drive from my house to the school is not the change of scenery that I was expecting when applying for colleges, but SCU is the perfect school for me. I am a proud twin, dog lover, book nerd and San Francisco Giants, Golden State Warriors, and San Francisco 49ers fan. At the moment, I’m a biology major, though I hope to double major in biology and anthropology with a minor in English. Over the course of this the quarter and the Intro to Writing Studies, or English 16, we discussed composition and the effects that discourse communities and literacy have on our writing process. We delved into the archival process to research how our writing styles and methods have changed and what prompted these changes.

My five Literary Exploration attempt to explain my composition process and the effects of discourse community on writing styles and genres. My research project incorporates the information from the quarter and attempts to compile information concerning the writing styles of different disciplines and where the similarities and differences in the writing styles lie.
