He would place it in front of him and asked his audience. \u201cWhat is water?\u201d He would get many answers: \u201cH2O,\u201d or \u201cit\nis a liquid,\u201d or \u201cyou find it in the ocean.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To all the answers he would simply reply,\n\u201cno.\u201d Then he would tell somebody in the audience, \u201cnow ask me.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWhat is water?\u201d The member from the audience asked. Facing the questioner right on, Seung Sahn would grab the glass of water and drink it. After tasting the water and placing the glass in front of him, a big smile appeared in his face. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What was he trying to communicate by doing this? The question was clear: How do you really \u2018know\u2019 something? So many times we overthink ourselves to death, when in fact the only way to really &#8216;know&#8217; is by entering the situation\u2014only the full experience of every moment will tell you what is in front of you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In your life, do you ever overthink what\nis in front of you? Do you trust yourself as you experience life? How do you\ntransform the clarity of experience into wisdom?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try this meditation: <\/p>\n\n\n<p><!--EndFragment--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Moment by moment, what&#8217;s in front of you?<\/li>\n<li>What do you see?<\/li>\n<li>Breathing in and out, focus on the present moment.<\/li>\n<li>Here and now, breathe.
