Research

The research for this project came from five diverse sources that helped analyze the Metropolitan Community Church from multiple points of view. Two sources are scholarly articles, one is an article from a notable news source, another is a fictional film based on the emotional aspects of the story, and finally, a source based on the encompassing theme of solidarity.

The case

The California district court case Perry v. Schwarzenegger brought the topic of gay marriage into legal territory.

The journal

The research article delved into the lives of individuals who found trouble reconciling their changing sexual identity with their religious beliefs.

The article

The news story showed how mainstream religion still doesn’t completely accept the LGBT community.

The film

The made-for-television movie portrayed a fictional family of very religious Christians dealing with the changing sexuality of their son.

The solidarity

The speech by a high member of the Jesuit community speaks on bringing solidarity to communities facing problems with faith and justice.
