Catholic Church’s View on Contraception

‘The use of condoms goes against human dignity. Condoms change the beautiful act of love into a selfish search for pleasure – while rejecting responsibility. Condoms do not guarantee protection against HIV/AIDS. Condoms may even be one of the main reasons for the spread of HIV/AIDS. Apart from the possibility of condoms being faulty or wrongly used they contribute to the breaking down of self-control and mutual respect” –  Cardinal Alfonso López Trujillo

Contraceptives has always been a huge issue in which the Catholic Church tends to get involved in. They absolutely oppose the use of any type of contraception because the Catholic Church believes that sex with condoms or any type of contraceptive is unnatural sex or artificial contraception because it does not serve the purpose of sex which is to procreate. “Natural sex” is sex between a man and a woman who love each other and have made an eternal commitment to love each other, and allow any children to come from the act of love since God sent them. Due to condoms or any other form of birth control not allowing conception, then it is repelled by the church as having sex for only pleasure, not for the intended purpose.

Condoms for the purpose of preventing HIV/AIDS is not an exception. It still prevents conception and it encourages the act of unnatural sex. The best way to prevent any sexually transmitted diseases is to be abstinent and wait till marriage in order to engage in sexual activity.
