In all honestly, as I was retyping my synthesis I imagined it as if I was narrating my own writing which gave it a different kind of feel to my writing. That narration in my head was like metacognitive, because I was revising my writing process. One major difference, was that I had more of a voice when writing in a blog.
I felt less obliged to stick to a certain format, and fulfill certain criteria that I would have had to in a normal essay assignment.
The fact that I didn’t have to constantly think about the rubric allowed my ideas to really blossom, When I don’t have to think about my writing being properly structured allowed me to really put in my ideas in almost whenever I wanted. Not to say that the blog was less organized, I was still able to compose a cohesive, well outlined paper, but I was able to format it in a more casual fashion. The tone of my writing definitely felt less formal while revising my academic paper.

Aside from these writing and formatting specifics, the visual component of the blog really helped enhance my message and voice. The gifs I had chosen gave a comedic feel to the writing, and helps turn a boring, and perfectly composed academic essay, into a more enjoyable experience for everyday readers. This allowed me to adjust to my potential audience, and try to appeal to a larger group of web surfers. One of my favorite parts were adding photos, and pictures. I had so much fun digging into the web, and finding the most suitable photo for my post. Making it pretty, and aesthetically pleasing was definitely one of the ups about stylizing my blog post. It really brought out the artistry that I am capable of that can not be seen through texts, and papers.

In Comparison to the Academic Essay
Although my writing in the blog might not get me the A in a college English class (where grammar, syntax, and presentation of ones’ points is pretty much imperative), I was able to speak more expressively during my blogging revision. The writing seemed more organic than that from an English class essay assignment. My words seemed more like me, rather than what my professor wanted it to be. I was less so trying to fit my essay points into a certain expected format, but was more so trying to express all my ideas as clearly as possible. I also felt less inclined to follow certain templates that had been required in prior assignments.
I think that when we do not place an extrinsic motivation on writing, we open a new dimension for thinking . Creativity tends to be hindered when there are boundaries, and parameters placed. But on your own blog, where you make the rules and dictate the path of your own writing, you can discover many things you would never have discovered.
At the end of the day, blogging is a good way to vent and let out all the thoughts circling in your head, but when it comes to creating a well composed essay, it is crucial to “make pretty” ones’ essay with the use of templates, grammatical rules, and compelling diction. I rarely find myself.
