Blog Post 17: Library Session

In this library session I learned about all the ways I could make my life easier in order to complete our next assignment. Gail taught us about the different ways we could learn more about the authors we read and learn from. More importantly, this helps us better understand their upbringings, biases, and other important information to know.

This could have been helpful to know before turning in the annotated bibliographies as well. In the class from last week where we learned about the credibility of sources, by looking at different author’s upbringings, there can be many misleading ‘credible’ authors. For example, an article written about gay rights by a leader of the KKK is not going to be a very neutral view. This is why when Gail showed us how to find the author and his/her motivations for writing, it was easier for me to decide whether to actually use the article or not as part of my researched argument.
