Today we had an optional peer review, and it was actually a lot nicer than I thought. Before my motivation for coming to the peer review session was just for extra credit, but it turned out that it didn’t just help me in the fact that It might have boosted my participation grade (most likely driven by the fact that I almost just barely make it to class on time), but also because I got to spend time working on my essay. My researched argument was improved significantly after the review because Niko gave me great feedback on the paper itself. One of the feedbacks he gave me was to take more time finding sources that fit the argument I was making. He found that at times, my argument was dependent on my sources, and believed that it should be the other way around. He said that the sources should be dependent on my argument. I responded by saying, I was yet to have my own argument, and that it would most likely emerge at the end of my research and he agreed as well.

Had I not, I might have produced a much worse essay, and it might not have been polished as well as it was. So if you’re lacking motivation to show your essay to someone else, whether it’s because you are self-conscious about your writing, or lazy at times like I am. Know that the perspective of another mind can really help raise questions, or possibilities that you might have not originally thought of on your own.
