Downloading Google Emails to Another Account

To download all SCU Google emails, read and unread, to another account (Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc.) follow these instructions once logged into your Gmail account:

1. Go to Settings and click on the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.

2. Under step 3, click the “Configuration instructions” link. A new window should open called “Get started with IMAP and POP3”.

3. At the bottom of the page in the new window, click the circle next to “I want to enable POP” and follow the instructions. If you want ALL emails including read ones, to be sent to the other account, on step 5 select Enable POP for all mail.

4. Once the changes have been saved, go back to the “Get started with IMAP and POP3” page. Select the email client you will send the Google mail to and follow the instructions. If you have made a mobile password for SCU Gmail, use that password.

5. Select “OK, confirm my settings” and verify the email settings on the page are the same as the settings of your second email account.

Once the settings have been verified, try downloading mail on your new account. If these steps have been followed, all Google emails should be sent to your new account.

If you are having issues, go through the steps above and verify you have done them all correctly. If you are still unable to download all emails, it could be because you are entering the wrong password to your Gmail account. Try changing your password, and following from step 4 forward.

If all else fails, you can also follow the instructions at the following link (uses the Thunderbird email client). http://it.scu.edu/MigrateMail/CreateGoogle.shtml

If a computer is unable to log in for a student with the error message referencing its inability to find a tree, try the following IP addresses to reroute the system to the proper tree:

129.210.8.7

129.210.8.4
