I don’t know about you, but my knowledge of creating a short film is extremely limited. \u00a0The last time I did anything related to developing a film was in my 7th grade Media Arts class. \u00a0To say the least, I know\u00a0nothing<\/strong> of how to do this.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

However, in the age of technology and the generation of creativity, I have faith that I can<\/strong> create something I am proud of. \u00a0As I find things that work for me, I thought that I would also share them with you!<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

First: Come Up With A Concept<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

This may seem like a “duh<\/strong>” point to make, but clearly developing your idea before you begin will help you in the long run. \u00a0How can you create what you want if you don’t even know what that is? \u00a0Therefore, coming up with a concept or a message to share will be a great start<\/strong> to creating your short film.<\/p>\n

Second: Develop A Storyboard<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that you know what message you want to communicate, start putting some ideas down on how to<\/strong> do it. \u00a0My recommendation would be to do this with a pen (or pencil) and paper. \u00a0There is something about actually putting a pen to paper versus typing an idea or digitizing it from the get-go. \u00a0At least try it!<\/p>\n

Third: Gather Your Data<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Begin finding images, videoclips, music files, anything that relates to your film. \u00a0Make sure to save all of these in one<\/strong> specific location<\/strong> so you can easily access them later. \u00a0It will minimize your workload later if you stay organized from the beginning.<\/p>\n

Fourth: Begin Uploading To iMovie<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

For Mac users, you conveniently have a film making application installed on your computer. \u00a0iMovie<\/strong> is easy to use because you can quickly\u00a0adjust transition times, follow sample films, or add in media. \u00a0At this point, you should add all of the content from your data folder to the “My Media” section of iMovie.<\/p>\n

Fifth: Create<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that you have all the tools and your ideas developed, you just need to implement them. \u00a0Adapt images and videos. \u00a0Add music. \u00a0Play with it and ENJOY<\/strong> what you are doing! This is a fun time to let your creativity shine. \u00a0Develop something YOU<\/strong> are proud of.<\/p>\n

Sixth: Share<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

After putting in all of your handwork, you should certainly consider sharing your short film. \u00a0Get it out there!<\/strong> You had a message you wanted to communicate, and now<\/strong> is your chance!<\/p>\n
