Premier League Weekend Roundup

To end week 35 in the English Premier League, Liverpool host Watford in a crucial match in the race for the top four. Ending up in the top four sees you a place in the Champions League, which is a European tournament for those who finish high enough in their respective leagues.(and the same league I wrote on earlier). For Liverpool, they sit now tied in points with Manchester City while Manchester United sit just one point behind the two of them. Currently, Liverpool and City are third and fourth respectively but that fifth place spot is looming closely in the background. The team that finishes fifth must participate in a Champions league qualifier between the other teams who barely made it in Europe, and is a huge burden on one’s summer schedule.

Other than the huge game this afternoon, league leaders Chelsea dominated Everton 3-0 to extend their lead on Tottenham by four points in the table. Tottenham had a very pivitol win against sixth place Arsenal, who may not see them place in the top four which has not happen in almost ten years. Arsenal’s struggles may see their manager Arsen Wenger sacked if they do not finish in the top four or at least fifth for the play-in place.
