In half an hour, the second legs of the quarter finals of the Champions League takes place with Real Madrid hosting Bayern Munich with a 2-1 lead on aggregate while simultaneously English Champions Leicester City host Athletico Madrid with a 0-1 aggregate deficit.
For those new to soccer or properly called football, in most major tournaments each round consists of two “legs” or two matches each at the respective teams home field to eliminate the home field advantage. The aggregate score mentioned above is the score from the first leg, where if the game ends in a tie, the team with the most away goals wins. So that means Bayern Munich, who’s down 2-1 on aggregate to Real Madrid, need at least 2 goals to win and if they only score one, Real Madrid would take the dub. Both Real and Athletico are teams based in Madrid, Spain and are both in the Spanish Premier division called, “La Liga”, Bayern Munich is based in Munich, Germany participating in the “Bundesliga”, and Leicester City are the reigning English Champions.
It will be mighty difficult for either Bayern or Leicester to come back from their respective deficits, especially Bayern Munich having to play away in the largest stadium in Europe, Real Madrid’s stadium The Bernabeu. However, football is a beautiful game and anything can happen so we shall see. My predictions for todays match will come down to how well Bayern’s fullbacks can maintain Isco and Ronaldo, and the game rests on Jamie Vardy’s shoulders for Leicester City, if he can get one or two good looks on goal the tie might be completely changed. Real vs Bayern: 3-3, Real advances in overtime. Leicester vs Athletico: 1-2, Athletico advances.
