Hopes to inspire

https://youtu.be/ayCaKl3gdmY

After turing in my essay arguing that inequality in sports is because of the media. The next step was to make a multimodal presentation of my argument. My video was something that I have wanted to do for a while. I love to motivate people to push them to believe in themselves and most of all overcome adversity. I made this a motivational video because when you look on YouTube most of the inspirational videos or motivational videos are made by men or are about male athletes. My point here is many female athletes do not get the recognition they deserve through media.

I made a video full of female highlights of all types of women’s sports just to show people that these are athletes you don’t get to see in media.  I made the decision to show women’s lacrosse, rowing, wrestling, and cross country because these are sports that not many talk about let alone ever get a chance to showcase through the media. I captured many audiences by putting mostly Santa Clara University athletes and putting many different sports to peek many who have interest in that sport.I designed the video to be upbeat and motivational with great clips to show how great these female athletes are inspiring but also make those aware that women are not in the media as often as men. I placed the quotes in the middle to keep many people locked into what the point of the video was and make my point clear.

The hard part is making it state my argument within the video itself. I couldn’t think of how to address it or make people aware of it so I just added quotes and points. This also made it a little realistic for others to really think about how much they really don’t see female athletes on television. Another part that was difficult was finding a song that went with my video. I picked the song “Girl On fire” by Alicia Keys because the lyrics are so moving to me. As a girl and an athlete I know how the song makes me feel and figured that the song would motivate other women to keep playing sports. Adding the music was most difficult because I had to align a specific sound to the action and make it on beat. Once I made all these decisions it was exciting to make the video because I was able to find highlights and awesome plays to show.

In the end, I was happy it turned out to be easy, relaxed, and so much fun and I learned a lot about the power of media.

Reflection fo

Blog writing academic writing and multi-modal writing for this class have been very different things for me. I found different ways that I can  express myself and become a better writer.

Blog Writing

The blog writing was probably my most favorite part of this course this quarter. I found myself having passionate writing and getting through the true meaning of things without having to write A7 page paper on it. It was quick and to-the-point and I got my point across almost like the way I was talking. As I talk like I write this became more of a challenge to me to write a very formal but informal blog. I was really happy with my blog writing because it transferred into my academic writing.

Academic writing

By doing so many blogs allowed  my academic writing kind of came to life. I found myself being more clear and direct about my conclusions. I was clarifying more instead of rambling on like I used to. I just felt confident in my writing overall because I think I had more experience writing.

Multimodal writing

My multimodal writing for this class was a way that I can express my creativity through media. I had to persuade and do things for a reason to make my audience notice what I wanted them to notice. It was a way that I can inform the public about my argument and also express my argument in a different way.

All together now

I believe that they all inform one another because it all transfers to becoming a better writer. I believe that my blog writing influenced my academic writing in my academic writing influence my multi-level writing. The real way is that I can talk and be myself around my bra while grading that I couldn’t with my academic writing but through my academic writing I could State the facts and then Express them to a multi-modal way. The only reason that this transfers between them if I have it set up in the way that it was set up in this class. For instance we had blogs whole year around that helped us with our academic writing and then having an academic argument and then being able to transfer that into multimodal writing for this class and then back around to a blog. I don’t think that I could do a multi-modal writing and then an academic writing and then a Blog writing it has to be in the order of blog academic a multi-modal for a reason.

Effective compositions

Some effective compositions when dealing with a multi-modal video you want to try to capture the audience’s attention have some relation to your argument, make it clear message, and point across through your video.

To capture audience’s attention usually want to connect with them on emotional level. You want to connect through their happiness their pleasure their excitement their Madness anything that you can relate to some audiences. To capture audiences attention usually want to connect with them on emotional level. You want to connect through their happiness there pleasure there excitement there madness anything that you can relate to some audiences. My video has connected through audiences 3 Sports. I have added many different types of Sports basketball soccer tennis lacrosse softball wrestling to get people to connect with any of those parts. I also tried to make a connection through the song Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys. Because the song is so inspiring and about a girl I feel like that I can get a message across and connect with people through an emotional level love being so strong.

The whole purpose to relating your multimodal video to your argument is to express it your argument through media and get it out to the public. While making this video relate to my argument. I had highlighted many girls playing sports to get the point across that usually you just see men on Sports Networks. In between my highlights I had written quotes or messages making those aware that women are not in the agenda plan of Networks. Then I argued at the very end that women deserve to be shown on TV.

In the end I felt like my video was very clear and it got to the point that women deserve to be on TV. It was very concise and appealed to many people that were old young boy girl athletic non-athletic. I felt like I captured the audience’s attention and felt like I was very creative throughout this video. I really enjoyed it

Role of Multimodal Composition in Classroom

THE ROLE

The role of a multimodal composition in a classroom is animations, to posters, to videos, to a Blog , to a website, you can express and make point visible to the public. In many ways many people like to express themselves through media that gives them a whole wide range of what they are allowed to express themselves with. When I when I first thought of multimodal composition I thought of multiple media devices or Media Services that could get the point across.

MY TEACHERS

Many teachers use multimodal compositions in classrooms. Many of my teachers have used videos to bring connections to actual class material or they use power points that Express what is being taught throughout the class period being in Communications the role of multi-modal compositions in a classroom is huge. Almost in every classroom there’s a multimodal composition whether it’s a photo over analyzing a video or understanding or interpreting a TV show series. Sometimes my homework is even multimodal.

IT HELPS KIDS

Even when kids learn different ways. I feel like no matter what multi-modal can give children a way of learning that is the future. Technology is so Advanced these days has it’s easier to make a multi-modal then it is to speak and have the students listen to you hands on. I know personally that if there is a multi-modal composition in the classroom I will learn more because I’m a visual person. I’m sure if I’m a visual person then a lot other students are visual person so through multimodal composition in a classroom is highly recommended.
