In response to Alex’s blog about school kills creativity he summarizes that those who have learning disabilities in for their creativity cannot express themselves through school. As he describes a young girl who had ADD was struggling in school until she reached a dance class where she found her place that she felt welcome and not so challenged.I too have a learning disability that I can relate to this walk with. Just like the little girl and her dance I find it easy to connect things with sports. I’ve heard that if I relate things in a sports sound or situation I get things a little bit more easier then if it was just an assignment.
One day at practice the coach had brought up a question year that would be able to tell me if I was a visual auditory or kinesthetic learner. As this test made me think about situations and what was more like my personality I found out that I was a more auditory learner. Although I thought I was more of a visual learner. I guess I need to be talking through things more and that’s how I learn.
Growing up you find things that fit your personality and your learning disability more and more and you make accommodations for yourself. I have learned that in almost any situation to better understand it is to put things through Sports.
“Treats an essay like a math equation”
I compare an essay as a practice plan for softball. As I practice every day for softball I have to practice everyday for my writing. Each and every day I work on little by little to make the big Masterpiece so that when it comes to game day or a day to turn in the assignment I am fully prepared. As I express my creativity through Sports have learned to express my creativity through Sports and writing as it is the same exact process just another action
