Hi! My name is Micaela Mason.  I am a student at Santa Clara University and I am majoring in child studies with an emphasis in pre-teaching.  I am so excited for my future career as an elementary school teacher.  I have wanted to be a teacher since 1st grade which seems like forever ago.  I want to teach little kids around ages kindergarten to 2nd grade.  I look forward to teaching students who are still super excited to be at school and learn.  I absolutely love working with kids and couldn’t imagine doing anything else with my life.  C’mon how can you resist that face?!?

OK, I have to get back on track.  I am from the Burlingame, California.  Burlingame is near San Francisco and part of the Bay Area.  This makes me a huge Bay Area sports fan.  The SF Giants are my favorite though.  I admit I am not very athletic, but I really enjoy watching sports and supporting others.  My athletic love comes directly from my parents love for sports which has been passed down to me and my other siblings.  I am the oldest of four children.  I can honestly say I enjoy being the oldest – yes it comes with a lot of responsibility but that also means you enjoy a lot of things your siblings don’t get to enjoy.  Family is super important to me and honestly I probably spend too much time with my family, but hey is that really a bad thing?  I also have the guilty pleasure of watching way too much Netflix and a lot of movies.  In our house, quoting movies is taught just like speaking is taught.  Countless times are the phrases “Name that movie” or “C’mon this is an easy quote” are said in my house and immediately naming that movie becomes a habit hard to break (but do I really want to break that habit?).  So I apologize now for my countless movie quotes and references.  I would list out all of my many favorite shows and movies so we could bond over our love for pixelated screens.  But you don’t want to be reading that list forever cause it goes on way too long.  Yes, I know, I have a problem.

Anyways, why I am blogging?  I am taking an english course that is titled We Don’t Need No Education: Higher Education and You for my Critical Thinking and Writing requirement at Santa Clara University.  In this class, we improve our writing skills and learn many writing tips.  Part of our assignment is to create and update a blog.  We are instructed to post about different academic topics and keep a record of our writing journey.  I am excited to be able to look back after I have completed this blog so I can see how my writing have grown overtime.  I find blogging to be a lot more fun than writing academic essays, so I am super excited about this project.  So, let the academic work begin!
