{"id":236,"date":"2017-04-24T07:10:51","date_gmt":"2017-04-24T07:10:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/mkraus\/?p=236"},"modified":"2017-04-24T07:15:13","modified_gmt":"2017-04-24T07:15:13","slug":"morale-is-high","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/mkraus\/2017\/04\/24\/morale-is-high\/","title":{"rendered":"Morale is High :)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019d like to give a HUGE shoutout to my homie g, Faithy-Poo!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/24.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_lgqorxq0Ac1qb0kx2o1_500.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/24.media.tumblr.com\/tumblr_lgqorxq0Ac1qb0kx2o1_500.gif\" width=\"500\" height=\"170\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Last quarter I took a class, <i>Ethics in Society<\/i>, to fulfill my ethics core credit.\u00a0 I was not thrilled to take this class for two reasons:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It was a MWF 8:00AM class.<\/li>\n<li>It was a MWF 8:00AM <i>ethics<\/i> class.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/vasBehABbc3bq\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/vasBehABbc3bq\/giphy.gif\" width=\"400\" height=\"225\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I am not gonna lie though\u2026it was rough for me to make it to all those class, and I am not upset that it is over.\u00a0 However, it was to my surprise that I actually ended up really enjoying the class.\u00a0 My sweet, old professor with his Boston accent, William Parent, somehow always got me interested in the conversation topics.\u00a0 I personally thought he truly did his best to respect, yet challenge everyone\u2019s views in the class.\u00a0 Because I grew to so particularly found of him and his class, I suggested to both my suite-mates to take his class, and they are!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/l44Q5hp1dwIoZcGsw\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/l44Q5hp1dwIoZcGsw\/giphy.gif\" width=\"480\" height=\"242\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>One of my suite-mate\u2019s, Faith (aka Faithy-Poo), is also in my CTW with me.\u00a0 As previously stated that I have formally taken the ethics class she refers to in her blog post, <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/fharlan\/2017\/04\/23\/morals-ethics\/\"><i>Morals: Ethics<\/i><\/a>, I found her post to be very #relatable.\u00a0 She discusses that she is a bit apprehensive about having to present to her class on the topic of abortion, and I don&#8217;t really blame her for it.\u00a0 My presentation topic was about if homosexuality is moral or immoral\u2026 so you can imagine the uneasiness I also had because of the political environment I am surrounded by here at SCU.\u00a0 Despite my worries, my partner and I ended up doing very well to respectably facilitate a class discussion, and also to be extremely courteous of all the opinions of our peers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/3o7TKrau6cMz9BhKRa\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/3o7TKrau6cMz9BhKRa\/giphy.gif\" width=\"512\" height=\"282\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, I was very jealous of Faith as she explained that she is able to utilize the research skills we have learned in our CTW class when she does her research for her ethics project.\u00a0 I especially appreciated when she pointed out and linked the two classes together when she observed that \u201c\u2026in having to show both sides of the argument, I am reminded of this class and the use of the naysayer from fall quarter,\u201d\u00a0 and also when she meantions, \u201cI am reminded of a blurb I read in Lyn\u00e8e Lewis Gaillet\u2019s article, <i>Archival Survival: Navigating Historical Research<\/i>\u00a0\u00a0in which she claims, \u2018the relationship between the researcher and subject is often problematic and needs to be addressed. The researcher\u2019s interests, prejudices, selection of subject matter, research questions, and biases inform and guide the research, and the researcher should inform readers of these factors up front\u2019\u201d (36).<\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t help but agree with her that it is extremely important to inform one\u2019s audience as to where she stands to give her audience credibility and not to confuse them.\u00a0 With that being said, I truly resonate with Faith about worrying about the class, but also am happy that she is becoming more confident with this class, just as I did.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/xUA7b3GFncD4hQrZKw\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/xUA7b3GFncD4hQrZKw\/giphy.gif\" width=\"480\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I\u2019d like to give a HUGE shoutout to my homie g, Faithy-Poo!
