{"id":233,"date":"2017-04-18T09:04:11","date_gmt":"2017-04-18T09:04:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/mkraus\/?p=233"},"modified":"2017-04-18T09:04:11","modified_gmt":"2017-04-18T09:04:11","slug":"im-on-a-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/mkraus\/2017\/04\/18\/im-on-a-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m on a Mission"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; I&#8217;m on a mission<\/p>\n<p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; If you&#8217;re with me raise your hands<\/p>\n<p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; Got no inhibitions<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s our decision, we&#8217;re gonna have a good time<\/p>\n<p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; Got a new religion<\/p>\n<p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; Gotta take me as I am<\/p>\n<p>Yeah yeah yeah &#8211; I&#8217;ve got expectations<\/p>\n<p>With gradification, we&#8217;re gonna have a good time<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not only is this such a catchy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=rL07-WxN-c8\">song<\/a>, but you will see later that it is pretty punny too.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/NeWB0kkFIvZTi\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/NeWB0kkFIvZTi\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"290\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">(&#8230;well not quite yet)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Being that I will be spending time in Santa Clara University\u2019s archive, choosing a topic pertaining to SCU is my obvious guideline.\u00a0 Even though it may seem like an obvious guideline, pin pointing a specific topic question was some what tough for me.\u00a0 But not to worry I had somewhat of an epiphany as I was sitting in SCU\u2019s Mission Church this past Sunday on Easter.\u00a0 As I was day dreaming during the homily (hate to admit it, but it\u2019s true\u2026), I was thinking about how the very church I was sitting in has evolved so much over time and how it has effected the SCU community.\u00a0 And this is when I realized my research question pretty much slapped my in the face.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/Hz3YLyGYc15Oo\/giphy.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/media.giphy.com\/media\/Hz3YLyGYc15Oo\/giphy.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"249\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">(figuratively, not literally lol)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I decided I wanted my research question to be something along the lines of\u2026<\/p>\n<p><i>How has The Mission church changed and effected the SCU community over time?<\/i><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/3\/2451\/3659412872_684cac53f3.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/c1.staticflickr.com\/3\/2451\/3659412872_684cac53f3.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"332\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>From asking this question, <b>I am on a mission<\/b> to find out as much as possible about The Mission. I hope to find out all aspect of the history of the church then in comparison to now, such as\u2026<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Architectural<\/li>\n<li>Spiritual Life on campus<\/li>\n<li>Mission<\/li>\n<li>Vision<\/li>\n<li>Values<\/li>\n<li>Events<\/li>\n<li>Services<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Most importantly, I really just want to find out all the factors that contributed to the Mission becoming a University.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i.forbesimg.com\/media\/lists\/colleges\/santa-clara-university_416x416.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/i.forbesimg.com\/media\/lists\/colleges\/santa-clara-university_416x416.jpg\" width=\"416\" height=\"416\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>After many class discussions and reading various articles on archival research, I feel as though I am much more educated and have <b>got a new religion<\/b> on how to go about my own archival research. The archive has <b>gotta take me as I am<\/b> as I attempt to test out my new researching plan.\u00a0 From Tirabassi\u2019s article, I have learned that even though <b>I\u2019ve got expectations<\/b>, I have to mindful that not all of the information will be available.
