If you are a teacher, parent concerned about your child in school, or just someone who didn’t really grow up around technology, you are in the right place! But before I continue, you may think you’re done with school and don’t have to take pop quizzes anymore… Think again because here’s a Pop Quiz for you!
Do you think the technology is…
A. Useful solely for personal communication only
B. Useful for academic communication
C. Both A & B
If you answered with A, you really are in the right place so hear me out on my blog post. If you answered with C, you most likely are a student and we are going to get along really well, so of course you are welcome to check out my blog as well! Anyways, being that you somehow came across my website, something tells me you trying to gain perspective on to how beneficial technology truly is to students of today, whether it be when communicating with teachers, friends/family, or even yourself!
The nitty-gritty of what I am trying to get at is this: communicating through technology is AWESOME, and I am positive I am going to be able to convince you that technology doesn’t harm a students ability to properly communicate.

Hey, that’s me and my adorable puppy! Isn’t she the cutest and most precious thing you have ever laid eyes on? Oh wait, I almost forgot to mention, my name is Maria Kraus! I am nineteen years and currently located in the Silicon Valley. Being part of a highly technologically advanced generation, I would consider myself to be pretty tech savvy and up to date on technological advancements.
But how exactly did this become my life, you ask?
Well originally during my childhood I lived in Connecticut, but then moved to Scottsdale, AZ, where my parents and two younger siblings (and don’t forget my two dogs) still live today. However, my older brother and I do not live in Arizona anymore because we are in college. While my older brother decided he wanted to go back to his East Coast roots by furthering his education at Villanova University, I desired to stay on the West Coast, which is why I am a current freshman at Santa Clara University. Even though I am in the School of Arts and Sciences, I plan on applying to transfer into the Leavey School of Business at the end of this year. Being that Santa Clara University is located in the Silicon Valley, I feel like I am spoiled because I am exposed to so many technological advancements that I wouldn’t be able to experience anywhere else.
How did I specifically get interested in the effects technology has on how students communicate, you want to know now?
Actually funny you ask this because being a student myself, I was assigned to write a synthesis essay, and I selected the topic of technology, finding it to be most relatable to my life. Since many of the older people in my life constantly argue with me (sometimes just lecture me because I am too lazy to give them the time of day) about how technology ruins my life and future. Hey grandma, if you ever read this, I think I am doing pretty doggone well with my life so far, so technology really isn’t slowing me down any! I just think people, like my grandma, who are against the use of technology, are just extremely jealous that he or she did not have access to it when they were my age and can’t figure out how to use today’s technology! Moving on… Because I am a student you can always count on me to be extremely credible because I clearly experience having to communicate through technology on an every day basis.
