Boyd’s article, “A Blogger’s Blog: Exploring the Definition of a Medium” attempts to answer a difficult question. What is a blog? Despite the enormous numbers of blogs that circulate the web, it becomes difficult to concretely define the term. Boyd argues that a blog is a mode of communication, a means to self express on the web. Blogs have come to encompass so much, from online journals to recipe forums etc. Boyd’s article seems to conclude that the concept of blogging cannot be concretely defined. Blogs serve as a means for self publication with the opportunity to share ideas and thoughts with a larger population. The development of blogs have been largely shaped through the format and structure of sites such as WordPress or Blogger. These sites have made it incredibly easy to create a blog and get your ideas published. Blogs provide a means to communicate and share with a large community, creating an opportunity for a more connected world.
