Welcome to my website about Common Core and the resources or lack of resources teachers have recieved! My name is Micaela Mason. \u00a0I am a student at Santa Clara University majoring in\u00a0child studies with an emphasis on pre-teaching. \u00a0I am taking a Child Studies course called Information Literacy which teaches us the best ways to conduct research and write a well-round research paper. I decided to focus on Common Core and the resources teachers have or have not been given to support them with Common Core. \u00a0My younger siblings are both being taught Common Core; I have began to notice that their Common Core homework is their hardest and most time consuming homework because they do not understand the new curriculum and my parents do not understand it so they are unable to help them. \u00a0I am also aware of the challenges teachers face with the implementation of Common Core. \u00a0My grandmother is a first grade teacher in a school that recently implemented Common Core. \u00a0She has struggled to understand the new curriculum and has received\u00a0little support and training from her school. \u00a0I began to question how schools expected teachers to transfer to Common Core if schools were not going to support or offer training for teachers since the curriculum is very different from previous state standards. \u00a0This curiosity led me to me research question and essay which you can find under the essay tab.<\/p>\n
