Entrance 8: Downtown San Jose

Finally, by continuing along the trail, pedestrians can access downtown San Jose. To do so, one must exit the trail before the final bridge crossing the creek. To reach central downtown after exiting the bridge, hikers can take Willow street, turn left on Glen Eyrie Avenue, and then right on Lonus Street. This path was recently opened to provide better access to downtown San Jose and involves passing under highway 280. For those looking to hike further, however, it is possible to forgo the 280 underpass and head towards Fuller Avenue and then turn right onto Virginia Avenue. By doing so, adventurous hikers can access the Guadelupe River Trail. The improved access to San Jose made it possible for local residents of the neighborhood to enjoy the possibility of taking the trail South to explore the several aforementioned neighborhoods of the greater area, and to intermix with residents of diverse areas and backgrounds.
