Lab Paper Accepted by Frontiers in Human Neuroscience <\/strong>(June)<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Our ASD memory research group, including Meghan, Mackenzie, Yuanchun, Zhizhen, and Xiuming<\/strong>, has published their work on “Age-Related Differences in the Intrinsic Connectivity of the Hippocampus and Ventral Temporal Lobe in Autistic Individuals<\/a><\/strong>” in Frontiers in Human Neuroscience<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This study revealed reduced connectivity in autistic individuals compared to their Non-ASD peers, and an age-related reduction in the connectivity of the hippocampal and ventral temporal lobe (vTL) networks with three major brain networks: the default mode network (DMN), the central executive network (CEN), and the salience network (SN). These reductions in connectivity may underpin the challenges in memory, language, and social functions observed in autistic individuals. However, no reliable differences in age-related effects were found between the ASD and Non-ASD groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the study also underscores the importance of understanding memory network dysfunctions in ASD across the lifespan to inform educational and clinical practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
