{"id":34,"date":"2012-02-06T08:27:07","date_gmt":"2012-02-06T16:27:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/laurenf\/?p=34"},"modified":"2012-06-12T12:11:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T19:11:16","slug":"writing-in-the-wild","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/laurenf\/2012\/02\/06\/writing-in-the-wild\/","title":{"rendered":"Writing in the Wild"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Writing in the Wild <\/em>\u00a0is a short essay written by Olin Bjork, an English professor at Santa Clara University, and John Pedro Schwartz, an English professor at the American University of Beirut.<\/p>\n<p>In <em>Writing in the Wild<\/em>, Bjork and Schwartz discuss mobile composition. \u00a0They talk a lot about writing from the location whether you&#8217;re on site or in the library. \u00a0It seems as if they are pushing that when you are on site, it is a advantage to you because you have all the sources you need right in front of you. \u00a0I disagree with this. \u00a0I feel that when you have so many things around you going on, it is more of a distraction than a helpful tool.<\/p>\n<p>It seems as if Bjork and Schwartz also don&#8217;t really like the idea of writing in the dorms or in the library. \u00a0I, on the other hand, would prefer these. \u00a0I like being in a quiet, comfortable location. \u00a0This also means that there is not too many unknowns going around me when I&#8217;m doing my work, which ultimately means less distractions. \u00a0Writing locations is totally based on preference and how the person is able to work. \u00a0No one can make a unified decision on the best place to study and write.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Read the whole chapter <a href=\"http:\/\/webpages.scu.edu\/ftp\/objork\/138\/writing_in_the_wild.pdf\">here<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Writing in the Wild \u00a0is a short essay written by Olin Bjork, an English professor at Santa Clara University, and John Pedro Schwartz, an English professor at the American University of Beirut.
