{"id":24,"date":"2012-01-24T22:46:56","date_gmt":"2012-01-25T06:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/laurenf\/?p=24"},"modified":"2012-06-12T12:11:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-12T19:11:16","slug":"web-design","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/laurenf\/2012\/01\/24\/web-design\/","title":{"rendered":"Web Design-UPDATE"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Looking at the sites for web design inspiration, the one thing that stands out to me, or at least the thing that I admire in web design is the clarity and usability. \u00a0Being a web designer, I feel that these are the two most important factors of a web page. \u00a0An example for clarity would be that you are able to understand and decipher what is going on. \u00a0For instance, I really don&#8217;t like web pages that are cluttered, have too many things going on at once, and have\u00a0illegible\u00a0fonts. \u00a0The clarity of the page is unknown because the directions are unclear. \u00a0For usability, I like when you go to a page looking for something, and it takes a no-brainer to find it. \u00a0It is almost as if there are giant arrows guiding you to your destination. \u00a0One statement that I have learned that I constantly need to consider is that a web page can be useful, but is it usable?<\/p>\n<p>So relating the design tips to the hypertext we are going to create, I want to focus on my web page to have a clear purpose. \u00a0The links that go together should appear that they go together and not just look real fancy. \u00a0As for the overall structure, I have to work on how I want to relate the different projects with each other, yet have an overall theme that ties the class together.<\/p>\n<p>UPDATE:<\/p>\n<p>Here are the websites I was discussing the in post<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/sixrevisions.com\/web_design\/20-websites-with-beautiful-typography\/\">Typography<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/sixrevisions.com\/user-interface\/20-fresh-new-design-galleries\/\">New Designs<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Something that is becoming a giant part of web design is typography. \u00a0I haven&#8217;t really thought about it before, but the fonts you choose should not just be random, but carefully chosen to display a certain mood. \u00a0The only part about this that sucks for web designers is that some fonts may not be accessible to everyone, so not everyone can see the same idea you are trying to convey. \u00a0New technologies for developers such as typekits are now surfacing and becoming a great resource for adding new fonts to your site that can be accessible by everyone.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Looking at the sites for web design inspiration, the one thing that stands out to me, or at least the thing that I admire in web design is the clarity and usability. \u00a0Being a web designer, I feel that these &hellip;
