The Next Films/The Disney Merge

For the next ten years Pixar would make films with compelling storylines. Each film was daring in its own way. Monster’s Inc delighted audiencess with the tale of a professional scary monster who is followed back to montropolis by a small human girl. It was nominated for four academy awards, winning best original song. Finding Nemo the story of a father fish trying to find his son and the Incredibles the story of a family of superheroes who are no longer allowed to use their powers wowed audiences with their pathos and their humor. Both films won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in their separate years(Price 3637).

After Finding Nemo and during the release of the Incredibles, Steve Jobs, the Pixar’s CEO, broke the company off from Disney, and the movie world watched to see how Pixar would fair without the prestigious partner. But Disney, suffering from a string a critical and commercial animated failures needed Pixar  to restart their floundering animation. Robert Iver, the new Disney CEO,  was determined to bring Pixar back to the Mouse House, and he was willing to go great lengths to see that happen. After months of negotiations, Jobs and Iver successful made a deal. Disney bought Pixar for 6.3 billion. Steve Jobs was given 7% of Disney stock, and John Lasseter was made Chief Creative Officer, Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studio, and Ed Catmull was made President of Disney Animation and as well as keeping his current post as President of Pixar.
