WritersCafe.org members are simply writers. More specifically, writers who want to share their writing and want feedback, constructive criticism, or recognition for their work. WC members are creative, outspoken, and enthusiastic about their passion of writing.
The specific amount of members on WritersCafe.org is unknown, but based on viewing the various groups, there are well over 2,000 members. The site continues to grow day by day and welcomes any and all users with a passion and appreciation for writing.
In order to be a member one must first create their own personal profile; this is the only way one can contribute their own work as well as feedback on another’s work. Just as we create our own individual identity within our modern day, “Earthly” community, members of CW do the same online.
The “Home” page of your own profile page will look something like this:
Pages will vary depending on the user, but will always include the same elements. The very first thing that will appear is the home page that shows all of your interaction with other users. Interaction includes a thread of commentary between you and other users. This is where you can easily access your most recent action on the site as well as your own writing, friends, blog, groups, courses, and photos.
WritersCafe.org gives people the opportunity to showcase their work, communicate with publishers, literary magazines, and literary agents. Overall, WC is a tight knit community formed to offer advice and encourage one another to open their minds to new ideas.
Members of this OWC join to not only receive constructive criticism and feedback, but also use the community as a means to reveal desires, dreams, fears, and overall thoughts and feelings. I asked, for example, a few members if they would share with me where most of their inspiration is drawn from. Answers varied, but these were some of the comments I received:
- Dracula responded: “What inspired me? My ex gf did. Of course at the time we were freinds, but I still found myself falling”
- Hamza responded: “It was just a thought .. or i can say an induced thought when we see people asking for things better than they usually possess.”
- Sagar Kataria responded: “Actually, it was just that I went to my close friend’s cremation , which made me realise the importance of Land , as at the end , it is this very Land that takes us into its lap.”
- Sally J. Kim responded: “I wrote this for my grandmother, who has taught me to care about everyone around me no matter who he or she is. I am in the process of writing a book about her, and this was the opening prose of the book– I have dedicated it to her!”
The beauty of WritersCafe is that every work is open to interpretation, yet when you engage in conversation with the author, you are able to better understand the meaning behind their work.
