Glossary of Useful Terms
OWC: Online Writing Community
Literary Agents: an agent who represents writers and their written work to publishers.
Publishers: a person or company engaged in preparing and issuing material for public distribution or sale of periodicals, books, etc.
Literary Magazines: a periodical devoted to literature; usually publish short stories, poetry, essays, along with literary criticism, book reviews, etc.
Genre: category of artistic, musical, or literary composition characterized by a particular style, form, or content
Forum: a public meeting place for open discussion
NW: “New Writing”: Gives a list of the newest writings on WritersCafe.
RR: “Recent Reviews”. Gives a list of works that members have recently reviewed and given feedback to.
UR: “Unreviewed”. Gives a list of members waiting to receive feedback on their work.
PG: “Popular Groups”. This is a list of popular WC groups, which are made up with the most community members.
NG: “New Groups”. This shows who the new groups of WC are.
PC: “Popular Contests”, which shows the most popular contests with the most members.
UD: “Upcoming Deadlines”. Given to notify members when deadlines to submit work to contests.
