About Me

Introductions

Hello there and welcome to my blog! I am a first-year student at Santa Clara University that is currently undeclared in the school of Arts and Sciences. As of right now, I am planning on majoring in Public Health, going to medical school and pursuing a career in the medical field.

My Purpose

I’m writing this blog for my English class, so although the assignments will be controlled by my teacher, I am planning to focus on technology and extracurricular activities (namely sports) and how they impact education. I have chosen these topics because they have all played an important role in my life and I want to explore, or “unpack them” as my teacher would say, more. By this, I mean that I want to have a deeper understanding of their relationship so I can better appreciate their influence in my life.

Technology

Whether it is for better or worse, technology always has and always will be a part of my life. I grew up watching shows like Jimmy Neutron and Hannah Montana on TV, playing video games with my sisters on our beloved PlayStation2, and making PowerPoint presentations to convince my parents to let me have sleepovers with friends (weird, I know). Although I use technology in more adult-ish ways now, it still has a big influence in my life and will continue to once I graduate college and start my career.

Sports

I have always loved physical activity, whether it be riding a bike or swimming in the pool or walking my dogs, but my absolute favorite thing in the world is playing soccer. I started playing at the age of 3 and joined a club team at the age of 6. Now, I play for the Santa Clara Women’s Soccer team. Honestly, I cannot remember a time when soccer wasn’t a part of my life, and even though I won’t be playing competitively forever, I know that soccer will always be part of my life.

Education

Like most, I’ve gone to school my whole life, but unlike most, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. Sure, I complain about the work load and get stressed about tests and assignments, but I love learning new things and challenging myself mentally. Despite my preference for math and science classes over English, I have always loved reading. I view learning as a life-long experience that is not defined to schools and classrooms. Because of this, I am constantly looking for ways to discover new things and enrich my brain.

In Short

Basically, I want to take all the things that have made me who I am and played a significant role in my life and look at them in relation to one another. I want to analyze how they interact and understand them more thoroughly so that I can better appreciate them and learn something new.
