The Guild called First Legion Germanica is not only a culture, but an indefinite Internet Culture. A culture is defined as a person or society that has a quality of behaviors, beliefs, and characteristics of a particular social, ethnic or age group. During the game the players come together within the WoW culture and interact, chat, and play with their fellow players and teammates. The members of FLG share similar beliefs and behaviors regarding the game, which establishes their own culture. Their guild would simply not survive without the usage of the Internet, and without it, there would be no interaction amongst their teammates let alone the game.
Internet Culture within guilds are seen as virtual spaces and places created by the players of WoW, and crucially, their claims to the contested notion of “virtual community”; the virtual bodies that occupy such spaces; and the desires to come together and win. FLG establishes a unique Internet culture where the players share similar skills, characteristics, and goals that they as that guild want to achieve. They accomplish these goals through communication over the Internet. FLG’s guild allows the members to strategize and overcome challenges with other players by communicating over the Internet.
