The majority of the time they’re wrong, and their diagnosis is clearly unrelated. Sadly, many physicians, and doctors fit into this category as well, when prescribing medications. In order to get an Adderall prescription, all you have to do is go to your doctor, and they will put you through a series of behavioral tests. If you are under 18 years-old, you must have parental consent that you have a learning deficit, and 8 out of 10 times they will prescribe you Adderall. Although, doctors are “supposably” cracking down on the issue of handing out prescriptions like candy, such as antibiotics for colds and so on, the problem with Adderall are the majority of tests can be easily cheated by the patient. What’s interesting is that there are no physical tests you have to take in order to be prescribed Adderall, it’s all behavioral test that the doctor performs. This means patients can fake their symptoms. This is a huge problem if patients are able to lie about all of their behavioral symptoms , and if they meet the criteria they can be prescribed Adderall. This is one of the reasons why Adderall is so widely spread throughout college campuses today, due to the accessibility and easiness of being prescribed this medication.

One policy that could possibly have a positive impact towards decreasing the amount of accessible consumption, would be requiring a monthly therapy session that the prescribed patient has to attend. Although, this would not be fair to those who are “truly” diagnosed with the disorder, but would limit those who want the drug for all the wrong reasons. For example, if a child is going into the doctors office, and trying to be diagnosed with this disorder is a whole different situation then having a college student who has progressed thus far without this drug. This is where doctors need to become more aware, and stop this problem from progressing, and if you want to be prescribed Adderall that late in the game, doctors should mandate a mandatory therapy session for those patients possibly trying to skew the system.

Students often defend abuse, because of how easy it is to obtain these pills. Easy access leads to students wrongly underestimating the effects, and dangers of this party drug cocktail. What students do not understand is that, Adderall is illegal. If you are not prescribed the drug, and taking it for recreational use it’s illegal, also it is highly addictive such as other prescription pills.

At the bottom of the page there will be a comment box, if you AGREE that their needs to be change please sign the petition. We need to bring AWARENESS to this issue, and slowly end the problem of easy dispersion of Adderall within doctor’s offices.

Home | Blog | Cultural Hypertext | Tactical Hypertext | Analytical Hypertext

In society today, people believe they can diagnose themselves with all different types of disorders.
