The objective of this study was to examine the characteristics of college students with ADHD, and who misuse their prescription medication. The researchers did an interview with a series of questions, and found that the misusers were more likely to report mixing their prescription with other substances such as alcohol.

In this blog Jenkins found that 1 in 5 college students that admit to using Adderall, and not having ADHD.  She examines both uses of the drug amongst the college students one being that the students mix it with alcohol and using it as a study enhancer. She also explains what Adderall is, and what the prescription drug is supposed to be used for, which is ADHD.

Ricker and Nicolino, authors of this site, found that Adderall is one of the most abused prescription drugs amongst college students in the United States today. In their findings they found that 20-30% of college students use and abuse Adderall in a regular basis. The researchers also examine how student use this illicit drug in many different ways, by combing it with alcohol to party longer, or using it to study for examines and focus on school.

The research in this article, focused on the dramatic increase over the past 10 years of the prescription stimulant known as Adderall amongst college students today. The researchers explore the factors contributing to the illicit use, self-medication, and recreational use of this prescribed drug, and discuss the consequences from abusing this medication.
