Adderall + Alcohol is the new party drug cocktail that college students are using all around the college campuses today. Students are mixing this attention deficit drug with alcohol. What’s frightening about this deadly combination is that it has many dangerous side effects that many naive students are not aware of.

The first Ingredient in party drug cocktail is: Adderall is define as a pharmaceutical stimulant of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine. Adderall is used as part of a treatment program to control attention-deficit hyperactivity disorders known as ADHD (difficult controlling actions, focusing, remaining still and quiet.)  The combination of dextroamphetamine and amphetamine is in the class of medications called central nervous system stimulants. This drug works by changing the amounts of certain natural substances in the brain. Adderall comes in a pill form, where it can be taken orally.

The second Ingredient in the party drug cocktail is: Alcohol. According, to the National Institute on Alcohol and Addiction, alcohol acts as a stimulant initially, but then its depressant effects take over. Once that initial high wears off, alcohol causes sedation, and drowsiness. When drinking excessive amounts of alcohol it quickly can distribute throughout the body, and lead into many dangerous situations such as: changes in behavior, attitudes, impaired judgment, alertness, coordination and concentration.In a survey found on a website called, Prescription Drug Abuse found that, 1 in every 5 college students today that admit to using Adderall, do not have any symptoms of ADHD, and use it for recreational use.

After defining these two ingredients of the party drug cocktails, you can realize why mixing Adderall and Alcohol can be dangerous. Its frightening is that students do not realize is that Adderall is a stimulate and Alcohol is a depressant and when those two ingredients interact, dangerous and deadly encounters can occur. Students refer this party drug as the safer “cocaine. ” This mixture gives individual enormous amounts of energy, and allows students to party beyond normal hours, and fight the lows from too much alcohol intake, but sadly these highs have temporary benefits, and can have fatal results.
