Did you know that athletes that played in sports in high school are used to being a part of being in a social setting which means they are more likely to drink alcohol?? I thought this was very interesting that social aspects would carry over. This is going to be a part of my research argument, and I wanted to share it with you today to see what you think about it.

When they show up to college they seek to be involved with a similar group if they are no longer playing sports. And actually, former athletes often seek to rush for fraternities and societies in order to become a part of a social group. Not only is Greek life a go to group to go to for former high school athletes, intramural sports as well, both these groups are found to be two major partying groups on average. So, although people might believe that just simply attending college is the reason for binge drinking, there is reasoning to believe that being an athlete can cause it as well. But above all, athletes are not the only ones finding themselves in pressured situation, yet we still see evidence today proving that they are the most exposed.

Frats and Sororities are known to be partiers, but I bet you didn’t think athletes were right up there with them. Not only are they up there with them on the drinking level, they compete with them for the top partiers. When I ask my friends and peers if this fact surprises them, it doesn’t as much as I think it would. I was at least a little bit surprised hearing this, but most people I tell just shrug it off like no big deal. So, I guess it is known that athletes party hard, maybe my paper isn’t as informative then I thought.
