On Tuesday we learned how to do database research, and honestly this is the first time that I actually feel like I learned something that I will use in researching.

I’ve had lessons on lessons of how to database research and have never felt like I enjoyed it or learned anything. But the interactive way I was able to learn how to use shortcuts and narrow my searches to what I am actually looking for. I can remember back when I was in high school teachers and librarians would attempt to show us how well databases were to gather information, and until now I had always believed that google was the best way to go, the best way to answers quickly.

But now I realize that people and myself included can get evidence just as quick and easy using databases the right way. Along with getting information just as quick and easy, the resources I am using are credible sources almost every single time.

Instead of acting like that I would use databases for papers like I did in high school, this time I will actually use them to get evidence and research for my paper. I always found a way to make it seem that I was using databases but never actually would, google was the only way to go for me. Now I know that the information within the articles on databases are more informal and stronger claims because of the background the authors have that is needed to get on the databases. So if my English teacher is reading this… yes I will do it the correct way, I promise.
