{"id":88,"date":"2016-05-28T21:26:36","date_gmt":"2016-05-28T21:26:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/ivannaq\/?p=88"},"modified":"2016-05-28T21:26:36","modified_gmt":"2016-05-28T21:26:36","slug":"annotated-bibliogra-what","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/ivannaq\/2016\/05\/28\/annotated-bibliogra-what\/","title":{"rendered":"Annotated Bibliogra-what?"},"content":{"rendered":"<blockquote><p>*I forgot to press publish on this post, so it may seem a bit dated, but it&#8217;s still interesting I promise*<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>One of our assignments in English is to do an annotated bibliography. \u00a0I honestly had no idea what an annotated bibliography was, so I did not really know what to expect. \u00a0All I knew was that it was going to be more work.<\/p>\n<p>Our assignment was to do 10-15 annotated bibliographies to which I responded, <em><strong>&#8220;What?!?!&#8221;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/i.giphy.com\/Wq7xqylQsSVhK.gif\" width=\"196\" height=\"210\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That seemed like an enormous amount writing to do especially considering there was a specific set of topics that I needed to cover. \u00a0Included need to be&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Summary\n<ul>\n<li>including the\u00a0author&#8217;s thesis, his main points, and his\u00a0conclusion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Author&#8217;s purpose and intended audience<\/li>\n<li>Synthesis\n<ul>\n<li>how this source aligns with,\u00a0adds to, complicates, overlaps\u00a0with, or contradicts one or more other sources on your list<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Rhetorical differences\n<ul>\n<li><span class=\"tx\">the rhetorical differences you see between this article<\/span><span class=\"tx\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"tx\">and\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"tx\">others you&#8217;ve read<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>What it does for you\n<ul>\n<li>a sentence (or more) detailing what this source might offer to your own argument<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To be honest, I first I thought that this was dumb. \u00a0I truly thought that this was going to be a waste of my time, and an assignment that took more time to do than it was worth. \u00a0However, these annotated bibliographies really challenged me to read <em>all<\/em> of the articles that I found <em>thoroughly<\/em>. \u00a0I needed to critically read them in order to include everything that I needed to. \u00a0I found that this was a\u00a0<strong>huge<\/strong> help when I was writing my research paper, because I had the main idea of each article all written out for me already. \u00a0So, although the annotated bibliographies were a huge pain to write at first, they ended up being extremely beneficial. \u00a0(I am finding that is how most assignments in my CTW class tend to be).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Image:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Image 1:\u00a0http:\/\/i.giphy.com\/Wq7xqylQsSVhK.gif<\/p>\n<div class=\"tb f5\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>*I forgot to press publish on this post, so it may seem a bit dated, but it&#8217;s still interesting I promise* One of our assignments in English is to do an annotated bibliography. \u00a0I honestly had no idea what an annotated bibliography was, so I did not really know what to expect. \u00a0All I knew &hellip;
