Álvaro Francisco Sánchez
Engineer in Tropical Agroecology with having taken courses on computer systems. He has collaborated on research with PRODECOOP, CIIASDENIC, CAN, as well as national and international universities on studies about “vulnerability to food and water insecurity lived by smallholder families under the context of the Roya outbreak, the drought, and other hazards” and “Moderating Diversification Strategies of Smallholder Coffee Systems in Mesoamerica”. He is a facilitator of Field Schools and experienced producer of coffee. He is on the board of directors of the San Antonio, R.L. cooperative.
Edwin Antonio Gonzales Acuña
Engineering student in Design and construction. Producer of basic grains. From Río Arriba, Palacaguina, Madriz. Young man with many goals and almost 2 years work experience with UNAG Madriz, participating in the data surveying of farmers, Field Schools for crop diversification, and is a part of the community savings and credit committee.
Efraín Arturo Reyes Jiménez
From the region of Moropoto, San Lucas municipality, Madriz. Engineer in Agricultural Management (2016) with a diploma in Agroecology from the National Agrarian University and another diploma in Watersheds with an emphasis in Resilience and Climate Change Adaptation. Facilitator of Field Schools with a specialty in coffee and cattle feed taught by INATEC Madriz. Participates in scientific research in collaboration with Santa Clara University. He has great aspirations to receive his master’s and doctorate in studies related to his profession and to collaborate on experiments and innovations that can assist in society’s sustainable development.
Esneyder Alvarado Carazo
Currently finishing his thesis for his bachelor’s degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Work and Development Management. Higher Technician in Agricultural Production with courses in Administration in Cooperative Management and Radio Locution. Has participated in the International Youth Exchange for Food Security, coordinated by the Community Agroecology Network (CAN) in Santa Cruz, California, United States. Has 7 years experience of data surveying in the frame of academic research. He lives in Segovias, Nicaragua where he acts as a promotor in the Multifunctional La Esperanza R.L. cooperative based off PRODECOOP R.L.
Imer Palacio Matey
Producer of organic coffee, experimenter and beekeeper. Agricultural technician with a degree in cooperativism. Experience in Field Schools ECAs. From the community of San Lucas, San Juan de Río Coco, Madriz Nicaragua. Associate of the Multifunctional 22 de Mayo R.L. cooperative affiliated with PRODECOOP. Has participated in local Agricultural investigation committees regarding coffee and crop diversification for a sustainable life.
Javier Salomón Pérez Sánchez
Engineer in Agricultural Management with diplomas in Rural Development and Agroecology. Resident of the Chichicaste región, San Lucas municipality, Madriz, Nueva Segovia. Currently acts as president of the Multifunctional San Antonio R.L. cooperative. Experienced producer in the branch of organic production and agroecology. Has participated in national and international exchanges. Collaborator in participatory action research. He likes personal and cooperative development. He has a spirit of improvement and is an entrepreneur.
José Rubén Sanabria Rodríguez
From Jalapa, Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. Masters in Administration of higher education. Engineer in agricultural production systems with postgraduate studies in project formulation; animal nutrition and food. Connoisseur of the farmer idiosyncrasy since 1987 with more than 20 years experience as rural extensionist. University teacher with more than 10 years of experience in academia, student advisor for agricultural careers and methodology facilitator of the Field Schools, and speaker at national and international Latin American rural development congresses. Active member of the Phytosanitary Diagnosticians Network of Nicaragua, associate of the Multiple Services CCAJ cooperative. Producer of organic coffee. Practice in cooperative development. Doctoral candidate in education.
José Santos López Vásquez
Engineer in Agricultural Management. Young man with 5 years of being associate and promotor of the base cooperative in San José de la Luz R.L. located in Quilali, las Segovias and affiliated with PRODECOOP R.L. Has been developing important knowledge for community development, and application of investigative instruments with organization that work in alliance with PRODECOOP R.L, in local agricultural research, obtaining experiences that he later shares with his cooperative. In 2016 he participated with the University of Martin Lutero, Ocotal to conduct research regarding water conservation “dry rain” based on sodium polyacrylate in small plots of agricultural crops. Producer of coffee and beekeeper.
Luis Miguel Lira Centeno
Graduate of English -2016, from the community El Coyolito, San Lucas, Madriz, Nicaragua. He carried out research regarding education in 2013 with the University of Martin Lutero. Head of sales, for three years, of the Center of Accumulation and Distribution of Food (CADA) cooperative San Antonio pertaining to PRODECOOP. He is an active, entrepreneurial, young man with desires for improvement. He participates in activities that the cooperative carries out and currently collaborates in research regarding food and water insecurity.
Oscar Eduardo Alfaro Rivas
Fifth year student of Agricultural Sciences having taken courses in locution. From the community Llanos #1 from the Pueblo Nuevo municipality, Estelí. Four years of experience as a promotor of Nutritional and Food Security. Promotor for the Multifunctional Monte Verde R.L. cooperative affiliated with PRODECOOP R.L. Has 6 years of experience in processes and tools of academic research in the northern region of las Segovias. Member of the International Community Agroecology Network of Young People. His goal is to culminate his university career and apply his knowledge in the agricultural plots and in the different work spaces that arise.
Yeltsin Marileth Reyes Rodríguez
Engineer in Agricultural Management with specialized courses in diagnosis and planning of coffee farms, small-scale coffee production systems, management of hives with emphasis on good beekeeping practices, microenterprise management, business administration and cooperativism. Young associate, coffee producer, and promotora of the Multi Ramon Raudales R.L. cooperative base of PRODECOOP. She is from the community of Las Brisas, Jalapa Nueva Segovia, Nicaragua. She has collaborated on studies about “vulnerability to food and water insecurity lived by smallholder families under the context of the Roya outbreak, the drought, and other hazards” and “Moderating Diversification Strategies of Smallholder Coffee Systems in Mesoamerica”, led by Christopher Bacon from the University of Santa Clara. In the cooperative she is promoting productive diversification of milpa and coffee crops with focuses on agroecology, sovereignty, and food security.
Zaida Janeth Calero Peralta
Community leader with a bachelor’s degree regarding intrafamily violence, community leadership, and public politics. Mother of three boys, she is currently representing the women of UNAG from Estelí. She is participative, cheerful, friendly, and has more than 10 years experience working as a promotora of UNAG PCaC.
