{"id":404,"date":"2017-01-25T20:53:31","date_gmt":"2017-01-25T20:53:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/finis\/?p=404"},"modified":"2017-01-25T20:53:31","modified_gmt":"2017-01-25T20:53:31","slug":"future-of-money-and-mobile-payment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/finis\/2017\/01\/25\/future-of-money-and-mobile-payment\/","title":{"rendered":"Future of Money and Mobile Payment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New software and advances in Near Field Communication technology has\u00a0changed the way we buy the things we want. \u00a0Instead of cash and cards more people are using\u00a0their smart phones and wearable devices. \u00a0Just wave your device in front of the credit card reader and you are on your way.<\/p>\n<p>In 2015 three companies pushed their mobile\u00a0pay technology and really got the industry moving. \u00a0Apple\u00a0Pay had its first full calendar year in the market place, Samsung launched it&#8217;s own mobile pay service, and Google\u00a0relaunched it&#8217;s wallet in the form of Android Pay.<\/p>\n<p>Banks around the world are also joining in. \u00a0At the end of 2014 there were only 7 banks that had services supporting mobile pay and now 55 banks around the world have started programs.<\/p>\n<p>In the last year Apple has been able to gain millions of registered users for the Apple Pay service and to add to that success they have launched the Apple Watch. \u00a0This wearable device will make it even easier for mobile pay users and is sure to bring more attention to the industry.
