{"id":503,"date":"2016-12-05T05:45:59","date_gmt":"2016-12-05T05:45:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/erpsystems\/?p=503"},"modified":"2016-12-05T05:45:59","modified_gmt":"2016-12-05T05:45:59","slug":"walmarts-vendor-managed-inventory-model","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/erpsystems\/2016\/12\/05\/walmarts-vendor-managed-inventory-model\/","title":{"rendered":"Walmart\u2019s Vendor-Managed Inventory Model"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Walmart is the world\u2019s largest and most powerful retailer with the highest sales per square foot, inventory turnover, and operating profit of any discount retailer.\u00a0It\u2019s safe to say that the inventory management is one of the biggest contributors to the success of the company, and one of the factors of its successful IM is contributed by implementation of the vendor-managed inventory model.<\/p>\n<p>Walmart implements a vendor-managed inventory model in which its suppliers access data, such as current inventory levels and the rate at which certain goods are sold, from Walmart\u2019s information system. Suppliers use this data to decide when to send their goods to Walmart.
