Binghamton Food Rescue\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Binghamton Food Rescue collects and redistributes perishable food waste by repackaging it as meals and groceries to food insecure neighborhoods in New York. SInce inception, they have rescued more than 47,000 pounds of food! BFR encourages communities to report food waste for pickup, too, and delivers the waste to more than 100 households per week. Binghamton Food Rescue is a really fantastic organization and an extremely inspirational program that local communities across the country can follow to strengthen their community and help the planet. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

City Harvest<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

City Harvest<\/a> is the world\u2019s very first food rescue organization, and is based in New York, along with Binghamton Food Rescue. During the pandemic, City Harvest is recusing perishable produce and aims to help NYC\u2019s food insecure communities by providing educational training along with redistributing food. Even though over 85 food programs have closed in New York during the pandemic, City Harvest strives onward and remains committed to meeting their mission statement of \u201cneighbors helping neighbors.\u201d City Harvest has even opened seven emergency sites for NY\u2019s food-insecure communities, and another twenty-two are on their way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food Recovery Network<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Food Recovery Network (FRN) is a charitable organization driven by undergrads who gather food waste and give it to nearby communities, places of worship, and other local area associations. FRN works on 230 school grounds across America. In spite of mass school grounds terminations, more than 30 student chapters continue safeguarding food waste. Furthermore, since the start of the pandemic, a few businesses and organizations have donated their food waste left by closures and event cancellations. FRN is a really great organization as it helps mitigate the food waste associates with corporations and organizations that usually produce a large amount of waste.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
