Overall, the panel focused on leading from the triple bottom line through economic, ecological, and social development that cohesively work towards a more sustainable future. It was very interesting to hear from professionals that actively worked towards change in this field. Of the three panelists, Holly Syrett’s presentation intrigued me the most. She represented the Global Fashion Agenda. She touched on revolutionizing the fashion industry by shifting away from the take-make-waste model of extracting sources and disposing of them and instead move towards circularity. The circular approach is the future of fashion: brands will extend the lifetime of products; products that can no longer be reused are used for something new; partners and workers are rewarded fairly. Global Fashion Agenda’s goal is to guarantee 1 in 5 products traded in a circular system by 2030. The challenges facing the fashion industry are infrastructure that would provide the tools necessary to achieve this goal as well as proving the benefits and business opportunities from this process. It was cool to see that the clothing industry recognizes their contribution to the climate crisis and is working towards creating solution to mitigate this issue.

Since the panel spoke for tUrn week, I cannot provide the link to the specific event.
