There was a plastics initiative on the California ballot for the November 2020 election ballot. It urged for the reduction of styrofoam usage in take-out containers, a manufacturing fee for plastic products, and a promotion of reusable products. This SF Chronicle article highlighted the facts and details of the costs and statistics from a legal point of view, but we environmentalists really know how much of an impact cutting down these products really makes. These changes are expected to be upheld and reinforced by 2030. This article stated that the Sacramento Superior Court allowed for time to acquire more signatures for the 2022 ballot initiative. It is lucrative that we pay attention to what is on our ballots because implementing environmentally safe laws will definitely help clean up our planet and promote a better future.
