MyCloset<\/a> consists of members categorized as following: Fashion-interested individuals, Stores, Designers, and Celebrities.<\/p>\n

Most users are considered to be in the category\u00a0Fashion-interested individuals,\u00a0<\/em>meaning that they have no professional experience in fashion and use the website for personal use. \u00a0These individuals are adept at photography, as they have photographed and uploaded pictures of every single item in their wardrobe that has then been cataloged on to their online closet. These members are interested in seeing how their tastes and style align with that of others, and are looking for new style ideas, brands, stores, items etc. from other members.<\/p>\n

There are often individual stores and boutiques that create accounts so that they may showcase the clothing they carry as to entice members to come in or shop online for their products. Stores are using this site as a kind of marketing ploy to increase site viewership and sales. There is a page<\/a> on the site that showcases individual boutiques that may be interesting for members, further enticing users to explore and shop.<\/p>\n

Designers also have accounts with the site so that they may display pictures of their newest collections and runway shows. Both established designers<\/a> and up-and-coming designers<\/a>\u00a0can be chosen to be showcased and further stimulate interest in their brand. This is also a way of marketing as well as a way of seeing what the current fashion interests and styles are amongst the general public.<\/p>\n

A way of increasing the hype is to have certain dates when celebrities will be showcased and viewership and membership on \u00a0MyCloset can be maximized.<\/p>\n

There are 5,575 registered members on the site, with only 1360 of those deemed as “active”. This is quite a small number, and, as the site has been established for quite sometime, this can lead to the conclusion that this sort of internet culture has not yet been subject to much interest, and therefore growth, or it is not yet an established internet culture. The concept of sharing one’s “closet” with friends and strangers is revolutionary. Yet, it is time consuming, and not worth it to many, to photograph every single item of clothing and accessories, just for the joy of sharing with others, and creating “virtual outfits”.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
