{"id":80,"date":"2017-04-18T05:27:51","date_gmt":"2017-04-18T05:27:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/apearce\/?p=80"},"modified":"2017-04-18T05:28:14","modified_gmt":"2017-04-18T05:28:14","slug":"posing-a-question","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/apearce\/2017\/04\/18\/posing-a-question\/","title":{"rendered":"Posing a Question"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>When did we become a part of such a <strong>throw-away<\/strong> society?<\/p>\n<p>When did <strong>recyclable<\/strong> become better than <strong>reusable<\/strong>?<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center\"><em>When will we realize that the earth does not need people&#8230; and that it is people who need the earth.<\/em><\/h2>\n<p>This statement is exemplified in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.conservation.org\/nature-is-speaking\/Pages\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Nature Is Speaking<\/a>, a video series by Conservation International advocating for environmental protection and awareness. They use iconic actors\u00a0and individuals\u00a0from pop culture like Liam Nesson and Reese Witherspoon to voice-over their\u00a0<em>stunning<\/em> footage.<\/p>\n<p>Joan Chen as <em>Sky<\/em> in the video below is the first video in the series I watched, and it sparked my interest in the series as well as the question for my impending research project in my writing class.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Nature Is Speaking: Joan Chen is Sky | Conservation International (CI)\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E8d_JvMpoY4?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>What are we doing here in my town of Santa Clara to help <em>(or hurt)<\/em>\u00a0the environment? I want to, through my research, find out what <em>exactly\u00a0<\/em>is going on with Santa Clara&#8217;s water, waste, and environmental policy and if any of the small things we may be doing, are having a big impact.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When did we become a part of such a throw-away society?
