I’m white, I’m 18 and I’m in college. I’ve gone by Annie all my life but in a sudden urge to be profound and professional I have been trying transitioning to use my actual name Antoinette (fancy right??)
I have lived in California all my life, I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016 and my dream car is a Prius. On top of that, I’m gay, have short hair and even have a septum ring dangling beautifully from the tip of my nose. If you looked up the word Feminist in the (urban) dictionary, you might find that exact description coupled with a photo of a girl who looks exactly like me.
You could also, arguably, find a blog with similar posts, rants and topics written by someone just like me. So why on Earth would you bother to read anything I have to say? My simple answer is:
Because I actually, genuinely give a shit.
Unlike a lot social(media) activists, I don’t choose to be a Feminist because it is the latest and greatest thing. I have been living and breathing Feminism my whole life, even when I didn’t know it. I played roller hockey in an all-boys league when I was 6 years old, I wore all-camouflage outfits in the 5th grade and I worked on my car with my dad until she recently broke down (RIP Iggy).

Update 6/2017 – She is back and ready for action.
I don’t just give a shit because I want to, I give a shit because I have to. I don’t just jump on the newest social movement because it is something everyone is doing, it is young girls like me, who have grown up fighting stereotypes that are literally the reason activism like this get attention. I’m not saying you need to get your septum pierced or fly a Rainbow Flag on October 11th, but make sure you stand with people who do. And start sweating the fucking small stuff.
