I’m sure by now you have already heard so many stories about “Self-Motivation” goes a long way or at least seen a few TED-Talk videos talking about it. If you have not, it is not to late to learn a few tips about the power of Self-Motivation. The word “Self-Motivation” literally means, to pump yourself up.
Here are a few things that I do to pump myself up:
Log down the event (however how tiny) that makes you happy. Review it in a future time. So you remember how those little positive feelings can be achieved and accumulated.
It literally can be anything; the joke that you make; the amazing 50 feet long putt that you drained; or just the conversation that you had with your roommate. I do this exercise since I was in school, I have a booklet documenting the happy moments. Every time I put in a new joyful entry, I have a quick flip on the pages, and all those happy memories are amplified and motivating me to do more. (A lot of them are my backhand slice drop shots on tennis court back in graduate school days)
I like to start my week watching a commencement speech.
Even I’ve graduated from school so long ago! But it just reminds me to get on creating, get on doing, to kick start all projects I want to do but haven’t done it so.
My favorite is still Neil Gaiman’s commencement speech.
Surround yourself in the group of uplifting friends.
I always advise students make friends. The good ones stay a long run, a life long friends, turn out to be the uplifting ones.
Everyone’s tactic to motivate yourself is different. The key is to know what is yours.
