{"id":1,"date":"2021-08-24T16:35:26","date_gmt":"2021-08-24T16:35:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/agroecology\/?p=1"},"modified":"2021-12-07T01:35:53","modified_gmt":"2021-12-07T01:35:53","slug":"hello-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.scu.edu\/agroecology\/2021\/08\/24\/hello-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Remembering Professor Eduardo L\u00f3pez Herrera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We recently learned that Professor Eduardo L\u00f3pez Herrera, partner and mentor of Santa Clara University\u2019s&nbsp; Agroecology, Climate Resilience and Food Justice Lab faculty, staff, and students, passed away on October 23, 2021 in his native city of Estel\u00ed. Msc. Eduardo was president of the Nicaraguan Social Development Association (ASDENIC), an organization that has worked on knowledge management and local development in northern Nicaragua for more than 25 years and a community-based partner with us since its inception in 2001.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">We extend our sincere condolences to Professor Eduardo L\u00f3pez Herrera\u2019s family, and his second family at ASDENIC.&nbsp; Professor L\u00f3pez Herrera was also a professor of sociology and history at the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN), and the recipient of several prestigious awards for his service.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Thank you, Eduardo, for all the ways that you helped us collaborate with communities in northern Nicaragua and bridge our own academic disciplinary divides, as together we have organized workshops, organized international agroecology short courses, and conducted farmer surveys.
