So what I’m willing to tell you is that I’m a 24 year old college student. I’m at Santa Clara because I found too much freedom at the first college I attended. As a result, I ended up going to the local community college and from there I ended up transfering to Santa Clara. It may not have been ideal, but it’s worth it for the end result.

Here are the projects that I have done this quarter for English 138:

This is a link to my blog, an important component of the course. In it, i discuss various articles that were required for class discussion. The posts cover several different topics, such as how twitter was used during the Arab Spring, or how social media has become so integral to our lives.

This is a link to my cultural hypertext, where I analyze the use of the internet in a certain cultural phenomenon. As a result, what is known as an internet culture is created. This culture depends on the internet for its very survival, and has it’s own cultural indicators such as exclusive jargon and dedicated members. The culture I chose to look at was Pokemon and competitive battling and how members of that community use the internet.

This is a link to my tactical hypertext, where I discuss taxing sugar-sweetened beverages. Some of the issues I cover are sources of added sugar in people’s diets, consequences of consuming too much added sugar, and costs of obesity. In it, I also made my first public service announcement where I try to highlight the important points about added sugar.

This is a link to my analytic hypertext, a group project where we discuss government tracking in today’s digital environment. Some of the issues we discuss are internet tracking, cell phone tracking, and possible future advances, such as nanotechnology. We discuss these issues in the context of Cory Doctorow’s Little Brotherbecause tracking and privacy was a huge thematic issue in the book.
